Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information CheapSelfHelp collects, why, and how it is handled. We keep data collection to what the store actually needs, and we do not sell your data. Last updated: 10 August 2026.

Who is responsible for your data

CheapSelfHelp is operated by CSH LLC, a limited liability company based in California, United States, which is the data controller for the information described here. For any question or request about your data, write to orders@cheapselfhelp.com.

Information we collect

• Account — your email address, an optional display name, and your password stored only as a salted one-way hash (we never see your actual password).
• Purchases — your order history and the courses you own. Payments are handled by PayPal; we never receive or store your card or bank details.
• Messages — anything you send through the contact form.
• Technical & usage data — collected first-party on our own servers (no third-party analytics): the pages you view, your device type, the site that referred you, and your IP address. We use IP addresses for security and to detect abuse, such as a single account being shared across many locations.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies — those that keep you signed in and protect forms against cross-site request forgery. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies, and there is no advertising on this store.

What we do with it, and why we are allowed to

• To perform our contract with you — take your order, grant access to what you bought, deliver downloads, send transactional email (receipts, password resets), and provide support.
• Because we have a legitimate interest — keeping the store secure, preventing fraud and account abuse, and understanding which courses and pages are popular so we can improve the store.
• Because the law requires it — retaining records needed for accounting and tax.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling or automated decision-making, and we never sell it.

Your purchases are private

We deliberately send PayPal only the amount, our store name and an opaque order number — no product names and no line items. Your payment statement does not reveal what you bought. Inside the store, your library is visible only to you and to the store operator.

Who we share it with

Only the service providers needed to run the store, each receiving only what it needs:

• PayPal — payment processing.
• Our hosting provider — running the website.
• Our cloud storage provider — course files, images and encrypted backups.
• Our email provider — sending transactional email.

We may also disclose data where we are legally required to. We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.

Where your data is stored

The website runs on servers located in Canada. Course files, images and encrypted backups are stored in the United States. If you are located elsewhere, your data is therefore transferred internationally. Backups are encrypted before they leave our servers.

How long we keep it

Account and order records are kept for as long as you have an account, and afterwards only as long as required for legal and accounting purposes. Technical logs and analytics data, including IP addresses, are kept for a limited period and then pruned. Contact-form messages are kept until the matter is resolved and for a reasonable period afterwards.

Your rights

You can ask us to give you a copy of your personal data, correct it if it is wrong, delete it, or restrict or object to how we use it. You can close your account at any time. Write to orders@cheapselfhelp.com and we will respond within a reasonable period.

Note that deleting your account also removes your access to courses you have purchased, and we cannot restore it afterwards. Some order records must be retained for accounting purposes even after an account is closed.

Security

Traffic to the store is encrypted in transit. Passwords are stored only as salted one-way hashes. Course downloads are served through private links that expire shortly after being issued, so a shared link does not stay usable. Backups are encrypted. No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously and design for it.

Age

This store is intended for adults (18+). Do not use it if you are under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced on the site.
